EU Civil Society Contact Group guidelines on “How to make a transparent registration in the European Commission Register for Interest Representatives”
Dear members of the Active Citizenship Group, dear colleagues,
EU Civil Society Contact Group guidelines on "How to make a transparent registration in the European Commission Register for Interest Representatives"
Find attached the EU Civil Society Contact Group guidelines on "How to make a transparent registration in the European Commission Register for Interest Representatives".
Together with Alter-EU, the EU Civil Society Contact Group has decided to adopt a higher standard of transparency than the inconsistent and insufficient requirements of the European Commission Register for Interest Representatives. The EU Civil Society Contact Group guidelines for transparency sets a constructive example of what the European Commission must improve, and supports the campaigns for lobbying transparency in the EU.
The guidelines are meant to give guidance to all organisations that want to register in the voluntary European Commission "Lobby Register". It is written primarily for organisations that will register in the NGO category of the register but the standard that we set should apply to all lobbyists.
In the guidelines you can find:
-
which additional information we believe you should submit in the interest of transparency
-
an example on how to calculate your expenditures related to lobbying
-
and a short text with our critique of the register that we recommend you to publish in your registration
We will encourage our members (and their members) to register according to the guidelines and therefore set the standard on Transparency.
We believe the guidelines can be of interest for you, your organization and your members - and perhaps you may want to be part of the civil society movement registering against the guidelines!
-> We would therefore be very grateful if you could disseminate the guidelines through your networks/website/newsletters.
-> And we would also appreciate receiving feedback on the guidelines: This is a "work in progress" document and we will improve it based feedback received from registrants.
